HERE’S A CLEAN AND SIMPLE MASCULINE CARD

I have been trying to do more masculine-themed cards and today’s fits the bill with its clean and simple lines.

The new and soon available to you Color Theory Designer Series Paper Stack has all the right pieces for your masculine themed projects!  I choose this blocked piece with its Crushed Curry flavour and added some simple stamping from the Swirly Bird stamp set to play along with CAS(E) this Sketch.

I wanted to add a “pop” to this card so stamped, cut out and popped up that tiny bird next to the greeting.  A few metallic stars and it’s good to go.

IT’S HERE, THE NEW LOVELY INSIDE & OUT BUNDLE

Hello and I’m starting out the week with a new stamp set bundle called Lovely Inside & Out.  I’ve been busy sorting through my Pre-Order of new things that are coming in the new 2017-2018 Catalogue and had to show off this simple and lovely stamp set with the matching Lovely Words Thinlits.

I also used some new designer paper from the Color Theory stack with a design that goes very well with our Dapper Denim cardstock.

Starting with a simple card sketch helps to inspire and the Freshly Made Sketches challenge was the perfect inspiration for this clean and simple card.

You will notice that there is a shadow behind the word “friend” – cut out one in Dapper Denim and the other in one of our new InColors called Lemon Lime Twist.  I love the bright and cheery hue of this new colour!

Here’s the list of the products that I used.  NOTE – you will not be able to order the new products until June 1st.  I know, it’s hard to wait, but I’m sure that you are going to love all the great new products in this new catalogue!

OH, THESE BOOTS

Do you remember that song called “These Boots are Made for Walking”?  It’s definitely an oldie and is probably dating me but it was the inspiration for today’s card.

I’ve been working on adding to my masculine card collection and this will make a great addition.  The mat piece was made using the Brick Wall embossing folder and I patted the Sahara Sand ink pad on the inside of it before adding the cardstock.  After you run it through the Big Shot it comes out with that old look.  Nice!

I really like the greeting from Guy Greetings but changed it from “shoes” to “boots” just by crossing the word out and adding the other with the Old Olive Stampin’ Write Marker.  It may be an idea you would like to try on a card of your own.

WHEN SOMEONE SPECIAL NEEDS TO KNOW

What a great way to start a Monday – with a card designed for someone special in your life!

I played around with the Guy Greetings stamp set(137178) with a touch of You’ve Got This(139575) for this special card.

It would be a great one for Father’s Day too( that was on my mind while creating it)!  I used the Real Red Stampin’ Write Marker to add the detail to the anchor image and love the look of the larger red circle behind it.

I was following along with the Freshly Made Sketches layout and am quite happy with the way it all came together.  Here’s the sketch so you can see why this card was put together this way.

MASCULINE CARD WITH GUY GREETINGS

Happy Tuesday to you and today I thought it would be a good idea to post this masculine card for you.

The image and greeting comes from the Guy Greetings stamp set that’s available in Photopolymer, wood-mount and clear-mount.  So whatever your preference is, it’s there for you.

I’m mimicking the sketch from CAS(E) this sketch and the Playful Paletter designer paper is my version of the stripes on the sketch layout.

I don’t make too many obvious masculine cards so I really like this one in it’s simplicity.

THESE BOOTS ARE MADE FOR WALKIN’

A blast from the past, do you remember the song by Dusty Springfield called “These Boots are made for Walkin'”?

I thought it was the perfect title for this birthday card.

Don’t they look good paired up with the Cupcakes & Carousels designer paper(page 9 of the 2017 Occasions catalogue)?  Just goes to show that you can use our designer papers for just about any theme you want!

TIP:  To make the Linen Thread look a little thicker on your project, fold it up several times ( I did 4 here) and do the same for the bow.  To make sure it stays where you want it, use Glue Dots to hold it in place.

HOW TO READ A CARD SKETCH

Happy Monday and welcome!  Card sketches are a great way to find inspiration so today, I thought I’d show you how to “read” one.

Firstly, here is my card.

Secondly, here is the sketch from Create with Connie and Mary that I used for my starting point.

You will notice that this sketch shows the outline of a square card so I cut the Night of Navy cardstock to measure 5″ x 5″.  I added a piece of designer paper as the background which was cut to 4-3/4″ x 4-3/4″.  The skinny line shown at the bottom of the sketch could be ribbon but I decided to emboss a 1/2″ wide piece of Night of Navy and used it instead.  The 4 squares in the middle could be stamped images (your choice maybe?) but I used different designs from the designer paper and rounded the corners using the Project Life corner punch.  The 2 back pieces are 2″ square and the smaller squares were cut to 1-1/2″.  I interpreted the flower in the centre as a balloon from the Lift Me Up stamp set and then added the greeting.  See those rhinestones on the sketch?  Yes, you could add rhinestones or do as I did and cut out smaller images from scraps of the designer paper.  And, voila the card is done!

INSPIRATION:

If you need some stamping inspiration I encourage you to check out the Create with Connie and Mary site and play along with their challenges.  They post a sketch every other week and a colour challenge in between.

You will notice that I also made an envelope for this card using the Envelope Punch Board.  The Stampin’ Up! medium envelopes are sized to fit a 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ card.

This was created with the fun Balloon Adventures stamp set, the matching Balloon Pop-Ups thinlits dies and the Balloon Bouquet Punch.

Also, great news, the Stitched Shapes Framlits are now available to order and I used them to frame the deserving birthday greeting.

My inspiration for the layout on this card came from the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

I’M COLOURING INSIDE THE LINES AGAIN!

I just couldn’t resist the Inside the Lines paper again.  This card is intended to have a bit of a masculine feel.

Dragonfly in flight - www.cynthiascreativecorner.com

Would you give this card to a male friend?  I did just a tiny bit of colouring with the Watercolor Pencils and an Aqua Painter on the background paper.  Then, I played around with Vellum on the bigger dragonfly.  I think my husband or son-in-law would like this card with it’s outdoor feel.

Here’s the list of products that I used for you.  I do recommend adding the Dragonfly Dreams Bundle to your wish list.

..oh, so cute card.  I used the layout from CAS(E) this sketch to start with the Cupcakes & Carousels Designer Paper Stack and had fun colouring with our Watercolor pencils.  Just so you know, I used Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight and White.

The sketch layout is below so you can follow along with it too.
