A LATTÈ HAPPINESS

Today’s card shows off the fun Coffee Cafè Bundle and matching Coffee Break Designer Series Paper.  I also have a little tutorial for you that shows how to do the Masking Technique.

Isn’t it cute?  I got my start with the great sketch by CAS(E) this sketch and went from there.  If you look very closely, you can see a shimmer on the foam over the cup – that foam was cut from a piece of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.

Now, on to the tutorial.  If you want to add just a few words from the greeting in the stamp set, just cover the ones you don’t want with pieces of scotch tape as shown in the picture,

Then remove the tape and stamp the word onto your piece of cardstock.

It’s a simple and clean way to add just the right word or phrase to your project!

BEAUTIFUL AUTUMN

It’s hard, but I’ve decided that autumn has to been my favourite time of year.  It’s the colours of the season that say it for me…the rusty colours of the leaves touched with the muted yellow of the sun!  The bringing in of the harvest.  This is what I tried to portray in today’s card.

Cajun Craze is such a lovely, rich colour and that is why I started with it for the card base.  The Painted Autumn designer paper has a couple of pages full of pumpkins so I cut one out to add to the bundle of leaves.  This is all done to play along with the Stampin’ Up! Only(SUO) challenge and it did take 3 stamp sets to get it “right” but I’m very happy with the outcome.

The background was stamped using the Touches of Texture stamp set and I used the “stamping off” technique to get the muted tones of Cajun Craze and Crushed Curry.  The leaves have a touch of Always Artichoke thrown in because some haven’t quite finished turning colour yet.

PRETTY ORCHIDS JUST FOR YOU

Do you like Orchids?  They just seem to say something exotic don’t they?  Todays card shows off a few with a little heat embossing.

The Paper Players posted a great Colour Challenge that includes, Pink Pirouette, Pear Pizzazz, Silver and White so I went for it!  I wanted to use the Climbing Orchid Bundle so checked out the card sketch from CAS(E) this sketch and went from there.

The silver on my card is the mat behind those pretty pink orchids and I combined White and Silver emboss powder(about 1/2 tsp of each colour) to get that muted colour for the flower centres and the greeting.

Here’s a copy of the sketch in case you’d like to play along as well.

A SPECIAL DRAGONFLY FOR YOUR SPECIAL DAY

Today’s card shows off the beautiful dragonfly from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and matching detail dragonfly thinlits.  Because, everyone needs a special dragonfly for their special day!

I love the way it looks like this dragonfly is landing on those leaves from the Colorful Seasons Bundle.  The detailed outline of the dragonfly was stamped onto a piece of white vellum and the I overstamped a bit of Pear Pizzazz ink to give it a bit of that green shimmer.  Adding those Iridescent Sequins(144212) finished off the shimmer.  I especially like these sequins because there are tiny ones in the mix in that lovely green shimmer!

The layout for this card comes from the CAS(E) this sketch challenge for this week.

It’s a great sketch and I enjoyed playing around with it.

OWL’OWEEN IS COMING

Owls are noted as being wise but they are also sometimes a part of the excitement for Halloween.  I chose to use the owl image in the Spooky Cat stamp set to create this “owl’oween card.

And there he is, sitting on that branch sending wishes to all of the Halloween people out there!

The Spooky Night designer series paper makes the perfect background for him don’t you think?  I’m following along with The Paper Players sketch for this one and used a dessert plate to cut the rounded edge of the paper.

I stamped the owl with Smoky Slate ink and then overstamped his face using Basic Black.  It should stand out so versamark ink and clear emboss powder stand up for the job!  I just think this card is too cute!

PUT A LITTLE AUTUMN IN YOUR DAY

I hate to say it but Autumn is really right around the corner.  We can already see the leaves turning colour and there is a definite “crispy” feel to the air.  But, the colours of this coming season are spectacular and I tried to capture them in today’s project.

The Colorful Seasons Bundle has all the pieces needed to created these beautiful autumn leaves!  I first stamped them using Crushed Curry ink and then added the other colours by swiping the inked stamp with a stamping sponge.  The Seasonal Layers Thinlits(143751) dies did the rest!

The layout so show off the beautiful Painted Autumn Designer series paper came from the Create with Connie & Mary sketch .

ROSE WONDER SYMPATHY

Every so often one needs to send a sympathy card so I created this one to have ready.

I haven’t used the beautiful Rose Wonder stamp set and matching  Rose Garden Thinlits so the layout that Freshly Made Sketches posted made the selection easy!

I chose this colour scheme from the Colour Inspiration Challenge and that is why we have Dapper Denim, Sahara Sand, Basic Gray(greeting and label) and, of course, Whisper White.

If you look very closely, you will see that I used the Woodland Embossing Folder to give a little texture to that leaf spray just above the rose.

TECHNIQUE TIP:  How did I get the pieces of the rose to stay together?  Well, I first cut out a small circle and then after the rose had been cut out, and carefully holding the rose cut-out, glued it to the back of the flower.  That way it all stayed together to look like one piece.  Then, it was easy to cut the frame and glue it to the rose as an outline.  Make sure to use the Fine-Tip Glue Pen(138309) to attach the frame,

AN EARLY CHRISTMAS SNEAK PEAK

Well, I started the week off with a look at Halloween so it just seems fitting to post this early Christmas card today!

Isn’t he a cutie?  This on guard soldier comes from the Sugarplum Dreams stamp set that’s in the 2017 Holiday Catalogue and I had fun colouring him with an assortment of our Stampin’ Write Markers.  This stamp set has several great images to play with and it’s available to you on September 1, 2017 when the Holiday catalogue goes live!

I love the matching Designer paper called Christmas Around the World and am sure that you will too.  That little soldier absolutely needed that gold foil snowflake backing him up too!

Here’s the list of products that I used.  Remember, the Sugarplum Dreams stamp set isn’t available until September 1st but you can get the Seasonal Bells stamp setI(I used it for the greeting) now from the Annual Catalogue.

CRAFTING FOREVER FROM STAMPIN’ UP!

This new stamp set, Crafting Forever(143958CM 143955WM) is a lot of fun to create with and today’s card delivers a clean and simple message.

I had some fun with the Gold Emboss Powder and Heat tool to get that golden pen and then cut it out to sit just so on the card.

The layout from CAS(E) this Sketch was the starting point and that’s why the pen sits just above the greeting circle.

JUST A NOTE WITH THE EASTERN BEAUTY BUNDLE

Today, I’m using the same sketch layout to create this bright card with the Eastern Beauty Bundle.

Isn’t it bright and happy?  This card just goes to show that you can use the same sketch layout to achieve a very different look each time you use it.

I chose this colour scheme from the Create with Connie and Mary Colour Challenge of Smoky Slate, Bermuda Bay and Lemon LimeTwist.  The Eastern Palace Specialty designer paper supplies the lemon lime twist background – there are several beautiful designs in this paper collection that are suitable for all of your creating needs.

That curved greeting label was made using the Duet Banner Punch and adding those sparkly Rhinestones added just the right touch.
