ONE LAYER NOTE FOR HOME TO ROOST

Hello and welcome!  Today’s card shows you the one layer look.  And…. it took a lot of thought because most of my cards have at least two layers.  I really wanted to use the soon to be gone Home to Roost stamp set so here goes…..

…..all it took was a little extra thought and some masking!  First, I embossed that handsome rooster with Copper Emboss Powder and then added the wheat using the masking technique.  This is a great technique when you want to layer images without the extra lines showing on the “top” image.  You need a post-it note, then stamp the “top” image onto it making sure that the sticky on the back is a part of the image.  Cut it out and then place it over your previously stamped image.  Check out the photo below.

Then, just stamp the second image over top and you have a lovely layered image.

All of this took place so I could play along with The Paper Players “one Layer Wonder” challenge.  I think I nailed it – don’t you?

It took a few things to create so here’s the list for you.  Note:  I used the Old Olive Stampin’ Write marker to colour the greeting and the stems of wheat.

BEAUTIFUL WITH LOVELY LATTICE

Today, I present you with a bright and beautiful take on the Lovely Lattice stamp set!

This set from the Sale-A-Bration catalogue will be going away forever on March 31, 2019 so I felt that it needed a bit more love.

I’ve been experimenting with using coordinating colours from the Stampin’ Blends collection and love the way this one turned out.  Adding that lovely variegated ribbon works perfectly with the colour scheme and gives the perfect finish!  And…no card is complete with out the perfect greeting!  This one, compliments of the Part of My Story stamp set from the 2019 Occasions Catalogue.

LETTERS FOR YOU

I’m taking a turn to a different kind of card today – this one uses the Letters for You photopolymer stamp set to create a card for kids.

I love it and also used a fun technique on it as well.  Did you know that you can emboss with framelits?  Well, with special layering you can!  Start with the Big Shot platform (no tabs), add a Standard cutting pad, a cardstock shim and then the Silicone rubber sheet.  Then lay your card layer down and add the framelits (cutting side up).  Layer another Standard cutting pad over top, add another cardstock shim and run it all through the Big Shot.  Presto – you have just embossed with a framelit!  (Click on the picture to see the background).

You can check out all of the Big Shot accessories I used in my Online Store.

I used bright colours to play along with The Paper Players Colour Challenge this week.

ANNIVERSARY GREETINGS

Hi and welcome!  Yesterday’s card showed just a bit of the Painted Seasons Bundle so today I created an anniversary card that uses the whole bundle.

Isn’t it pretty?  The background mat is just one of the beautiful designs that are in the Painted Seasons designer series paper that goes with the Painted Seasons stamp set.

I used a Sponge Dauber to add a little touch of Flirty Flamingo ink to the Petal pink as well as a bit of Mossy Meadow ink for the leaves.  Then all of those pretty flowers and leaves were “fussy” cut with Paper Snips.  Yup, I did that!

The Story Label Punch is responsible for that lovely label that I arrange those flowers on.  This punch is also available in the Sale-A-Bration Coordination special.

PAINTED SEASONS DISTINKTIVE

Good day to you and welcome!  Today’s post features another Distinktive stamp set that’s available as a qualifying Free choice from the 2nd Sale-A-Bration release.

It’s the Painted Seasons Bundle (150349) that includes some fabulous designer series paper.

I chose to use just the stamped images for this card.

Love that flower!  I used the masking technique to add that spray of leaves and another technique which you saw in the video I posted last week.  The flower image was inked up with Melon Mambo ink and then I added Pumpkin Pie ink using a sponge dauber.  The same technique was used on the leaves using Granny Apple Green and Call Me Clover ink.

CAS(E) this sketch posted this sketch this week and that is why my card is so clean and simple.

THOUGHTS OF YOU

Welcome and thank you for visiting today!  Do you scroll around through Pinterest for ideas?  I sometimes do and found a beautiful card that uses the Climbing Roses cling bundle. Well, I decided to re-create it myself and this is what I came up with.

I started off by using the Highland Heather and Pear Pizzazz Stampin’ Write Markers and an Aqua Painter to colour those beautiful roses.  I applied the colour with the markers and then used the Aqua Painter to spread and lighten it.  You can also pick up the colour from the marker tip and apply it that way.  Either method works very well.

The rest was putting together these lovely colours and adding a piece of the Grapefruit Grove Organdy Ribbon from the Combo Pack that’s in the Sale-A-Bration catalogue.

BEAUTIFUL LIFE

It’s a beautiful like despite all the snow and cold don’t you think?  There’s always something great and beautiful to look forward to!

Which is why the Beautiful You stamp set came to mind for tday’s card.  No matter what, we can always dance!  I chose to use Black Emboss powder to accent that lovely dancer and then thought that the opposite in White Emboss powder was a good idea for the sentiment!  Of course, the butterfly background helps to add that touch of spring.

The layout is compliments of CAS(E) this sketch #311 which made it easy to put the idea together.

IT’S TIME FOR DAFFODILS

Are the daffodils blooming in your area yet?  We still have a lot of snow so it will be a while before we see any daffodils peeking through.  So, I made my own!

Now doesn’t that look cheerful?  I used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and the You’re Inspiring clear-mount stamp set to create this happy and cheerful card.  The daffodil was coloured with our Stampin’ Blends and then carefully cut out with Paper Snips.  I also used an exacto knife to clean out the smaller spaces.
TIP:  If you want to add a little colour to clear epoxy embellishment, The alchohol ink in our Stampin’ Blends works beautifully!

LITTLE TEAPOT

Welcome to my blog and a brand new week.  I thought it a great idea to start off with this Little Teapot adorned with flowers to pass on a little cheer to you!

This was one of the cards that we made in class last week that we tried a new technique on.  The Beautifully Detailed Laser-cut designer series paper is truly beautiful so we used a piece of it to add that texture on the Soft Sea Foam mat behind the teapot.  All it took was a Stampin’ Sponge and Pear Pizzazz ink!  So pretty!

The flowers were stamped onto the teapot image which was cut out with the Tea Time Framelits Dies (page 17 in the Sale-A-Bration catalogue).  Then we used various Stampin’ Blends to colour them.

GLAD WE’RE FRIENDS

There’s a touch of whimsy in todays friends card.  I just love the cute critters in the Fable Friends Cling stamp set(148670) and played with the line-up of ducks!

These little critters needed to be coloured, so I broke out our Stampin’ Write Markers(Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody, Granny Apple Green, Blushing Bride and Balmy Blue) to give them some life.  And yes, I fussy-cut them so I could line them up top to bottom on this card.  Aren’t they just too darn cute?!

The Blushing Bride card base just had to be brightened up with a piece from the Tropical Escape Designer paper pack.
