BIRDS OF A FEATHER

Birds of a feather flock together – I think that’s how the quote goes, but today it’s just one little bird standing alone!

I took inspiration from one page of the Bird Ballad designer paper that shows rows and rows of feathers with all of it’s lovely bright colours.

Since I still had the tray of inks and an Aqua Painter sitting on the table, it just seemed right to colour that little bird with those colours(Bermuda Bay and Gorgeous Grape) with a hint of Smokey Slate.  It’s easy to use our Ink Refills and I encourage you to take a look at all of the different colour families.

The layout is compliments of the new Freshly Made Sketches challenge for this week.

IT’S SIMPLY FLOWERS DAY

We have had a very large dump of snow so……it’s simply time for some flowers on this blog.  Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind the snow but flowers are a favourite around here so check out this flower-laden card!

I’m playing along with The Paper Players colour challenge and did a little watercolouring with some ink refills.  I found this little watercolour tray at the dollar store and find it very handy to use.

Here are the colours that we are asked to use.

I’m pretty happy with today’s card and think that the challenge colours go very well with the Bird Ballad designer paper.

A TIMELESS MESSAGE

Today’s card shows the timeless message of the holiday season with the Still Scenes Bundle.

I used the Snow Globe Shaker Dome and added a little of the Ice Stampin’ Glitter to that lovely little scene.  The trees in the background came from the October Paper Pumpkin kit.

Once the front of the card was done I added a touch of snowflakes compliment of the Frosted Foliage stamp set.

I didn’t want to take away from that lovely soft scene so added the verse to the inside of the card.

YULETIDE CHEER TO YOU

I was playing around with the Frosted Foliage Bundle and was taken by the large Yuletide cheer greeting.  The question was how to put it on a card so it would stand out?

Well, like that of course!  The background image from Feels Like Frost DSP is a beauty so it had to be on this card as well.  I also played around with the Ice Stampin’ Glitter for that pretty frame and applied a thin layer of glue from the Fine-Tip Glue pen first.  (If you click on the photo it will show you a close-up).

This week’s challenge over at The Paper Players is to “say it LOUD” so this should fit in with that.  Clean and Simple as well?  You be the judge.

I always like to play along with The Paper Players and was delighted to see that This Card from last week’s challenge had been chosen as “a cut above”!

HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS

For this Friday, the theme is “home for the holidays”!  I combined the Still Scenes Bundle and Frosted Foliage to set off this lovely home awaiting family and friends.

I just love that little scene and added lots of colour with our Stampin’ Blends.  The Snowfall Accents Puff Paint is so much fun to use to add snow-y accents too!

Freshly Made Sketches provided the layout and Frosted Foliage added some of the snowflakes gently falling around this lovely home.

Have a great weekend and I hope that you can get some stamping done as well!

PTERODACTYL HALLOWEEN

Pterodactyl, whew that’s a mouthful!  However, when you want to create a Halloween-themed project you sometimes need to go to the Dino Days bundle!  Especially when you don’t have any Halloween-themed stamp sets.  He, he, so here it is!

I sure had fun with this and took some of the colours from The Paper Players Colour Challenge.

Just a note:  Elegant Eggplant and Tangelo Twist are retired colours from Stampin’ Up! so I substituted Terracotta Tile and Blackberry Bliss.

The pine boughs in the background are from the Peaceful Boughs stamp set and I thought that they would make a great background done in Smokey Slate.

HAVE A SOFT CHRISTMAS

Hi and welcome.  The Peaceful Boughs stamp set has been sitting on my table and calling to me to put it into action.  So, I cooperated, lol, and created this soft card.

The boughs were arranged on the Stamparatus first and inked up with Crumb Cake.  Then I grabbed a piece of sponge and dabbed a little Garden Green in over the boughs before stamping them onto the card front.  The Word Wishes dies worked perfectly so I could play along with this CAS(E) this sketch layout.

I love the Snowflake Sequins, so added a few for a little extra pop!

THE COLOURS OF FALL

Today I’m focussing on the colours of fall with this card created with the Bloom & Grow Bundle.

Those lovely flowers were coloured with our fabulous Stampin’ Blends in Pumpkin Pie and So Saffron.  When the colouring was done, they needed a good background piece so I went to the Come to Gather designer paper package.  I wasn’t sure at first, but do like the blend of Cajun Craze with the Pumpkin Pie card base and So Saffron mat.

It just goes to show that playing around with colours can show one different ways to enjoy them!

WHY DON’T YOU CASE THE CATALOGUE

When looking for stamping ideas, do you CASE(copy and share everything) projects from catalogue?  When I’m stuck for ideas I do it frequently – like this card created with the Toile Christmas Bundle.

Isn’t that bird a beauty?  I just love it and it’s so easy to just stamp the image and use the matching die to cut it out.

I started with a card base of Thick Very Vanilla and glued a piece of the Toile Tidings DSP to cover the front and went from there.(This card idea can be found on page 6 of the Holiday Catalogue).

This is just one of the assortment of cards we’ll be creating at my World Card Making Day celebration on Oct. 5, 2019.  Want to join us?  Just go to my Events Calendar and sign up.

TOGETHER ON THIS JOURNEY

“Together we’ll get through this journey.”  That’s the saying that is the highlight of today’s card.

I hadn’t used the Good Morning Magnolia cling bundle for a while so it was exciting to use it for this soft and beautiful card!  I used the Petal Pink and Pear Pizzazz Stampin’ Write Markers to add ink to the image, using the sides of the markers to give a softer look.

Covering up that beautiful flower wasn’t an option so Vellum was the choice for that inspiring greeting!  Then I used a Silicone Craft sheet and a sponge to add the Multipurpose Liquid Glue to the back of the vellum piece so the glue would not show through.

I followed along with this new sketch from Freshly Made Sketches for the layout.
