BEST DAD EVER!

Have you used the Country Livin’ stamp set lately?  I haven’t used it in quite a while so brought it out to create today’s “Best Dad” card.

It’s a little early for Father’s Day but it never hurts to get ready in lots of time.  I’ve really been focussing on improving my colouring skills with the Stampin’ Blends and have extremely happy with the way this image turned out.  The guitar was stamped first and then I masked it with a post-it note, added the boots and started colouring.

The touch of Balmy Blue plaid was added to play along with The Paper Players Theme challenge for this week.  Doesn’t it look great with the various shades of brown?

BUSHY-TAILED EASTER GREETINGS

Easter is a little later this year but time does fly by so I had fun creating this Easter card with a bushy-tailed little creature bringing greetings!

LOL, isn’t he a cutie?  I used Stampin’ Blends to bring out his cuteness and added those tiny Heart Epoxy Droplets to show the love!  Of course the Fable Friends Cling stamp set has several cute critters to help send Easter greetings.

TIP: Our Stampin’ Blends are perfect for adding colour to the epoxy embellishments.

The Paper Players posted a Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge and I picked the last line in order to play along.

ROSES IN BLOOM

Do you have a rose garden?  I don’t but love roses and am thinking of adding some to our yard this spring.  In the meantime I can enjoy them on cardstock like today’s card.

I chose to use a combination of Flirty Flamingo and Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends for the flowers and Mossy Meadow and Soft Sea Foam for the leaves.  The layout is from The Paper Players latest challenge so I just had to use a couple of pieces from the Floral Romance Specialty Designer series paper to follow along with the sketch.

NOTE:  The matching Rose Trellis Thinlits dies are not available at this time and I am waiting for news on their availability.

In the meantime, here’s the list of products used.

ONE LAYER NOTE FOR HOME TO ROOST

Hello and welcome!  Today’s card shows you the one layer look.  And…. it took a lot of thought because most of my cards have at least two layers.  I really wanted to use the soon to be gone Home to Roost stamp set so here goes…..

…..all it took was a little extra thought and some masking!  First, I embossed that handsome rooster with Copper Emboss Powder and then added the wheat using the masking technique.  This is a great technique when you want to layer images without the extra lines showing on the “top” image.  You need a post-it note, then stamp the “top” image onto it making sure that the sticky on the back is a part of the image.  Cut it out and then place it over your previously stamped image.  Check out the photo below.

Then, just stamp the second image over top and you have a lovely layered image.

All of this took place so I could play along with The Paper Players “one Layer Wonder” challenge.  I think I nailed it – don’t you?

It took a few things to create so here’s the list for you.  Note:  I used the Old Olive Stampin’ Write marker to colour the greeting and the stems of wheat.

I encourage you to give the masking technique a try and Happy Stamping to you!

LETTERS FOR YOU

I’m taking a turn to a different kind of card today – this one uses the Letters for You photopolymer stamp set to create a card for kids.

I love it and also used a fun technique on it as well.  Did you know that you can emboss with framelits?  Well, with special layering you can!  Start with the Big Shot platform (no tabs), add a Standard cutting pad, a cardstock shim and then the Silicone rubber sheet.  Then lay your card layer down and add the framelits (cutting side up).  Layer another Standard cutting pad over top, add another cardstock shim and run it all through the Big Shot.  Presto – you have just embossed with a framelit!  (Click on the picture to see the background).

You can check out all of the Big Shot accessories I used in my Online Store.

I used bright colours to play along with The Paper Players Colour Challenge this week.

A SWEET INSPIRATION TO THOSE WHO INSPIRE

There are many people out there who inspire me everyday!  Not only for my paper-crafting business but in the way they handle life’s challenges!  This card was created with those very fine people in mind.

Of course every card needs a great layout and this one from The Paper Players was just one of the inspirations.

I’ve been playing with the Butterfly Gala cling stamp set bundle all week and had those lovely green butterflies sitting on my table.  There were the perfect addition to this inspired card!

Here’s the full list of products that I used.

HELLO LEMON LIME TWIST

Hello there!  It’s been a while for a new post but we were off enjoying the sun and sand in Puerto Vallarta.  It was a happy break from our cold and snowy weather!

The Paper Players Clean & Simple Monochromatic challenge and Freshly Made Sketches simple layout made coming back home to stamping a little easier.  (Do you find that it’s sometimes difficult to get back into stamping mode when you’ve been away!)

FOR MY VALENTINES

There’s nothing like giving the gift of chocolate to one’s valentines and adding a fancy gift tag to that delicious gift!

These little beauties were created with the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set and the beautiful All My Love designer series paper.  And, I just couldn’t resist adding that touch of shimmer with a Lovely Lipstick Foil heart!

TIP:  When using the Tag Topper Scalloped Punch, cut the cardstock to 2-15/16 wide –  it will fit into the punch a little easier.

The Paper Players “Love is in the Air” theme made it easy to create these tags.

TIP 2:  The Thinlit Die I used has a tiny heart at the bottom of the die, so I used the Take Your Pick tool to add it to that pretty label.  When using this die, make a note of that tiny heart so you can use it on your own project.

HOME TO ROOST – A SALE-A-BRATION SET

Today is the day – I’ve finally had a chance to create with the Home to Roost Sale-A-Bration set!  I was drawn to the rooster image so went to town with colouring this card.

I used quite a selection of Stampin’ Blends for the rooster – they can be very colourful after all!  Of course I needed a card sketch to help with the layout and The Paper Players posted the perfect one.

I haven’t finished with this handsome rooster so make sure keep an eye out for some more ideas.

So, in keeping with the weather, I’m playing along with The Paper Players clean and simple “snowy day” challenge

and the What Will You Stamp challenge to use the Colorful Seasons stamp set.

This card was quick and easy to put together.  A little stamping, heat embossing and die-cutting and it’s good to go.
