Happy Monday and welcome! Card sketches are a great way to find inspiration so today, I thought I’d show you how to “read” one.
Firstly, here is my card.
Secondly, here is the sketch from Create with Connie and Mary that I used for my starting point.
You will notice that this sketch shows the outline of a square card so I cut the Night of Navy cardstock to measure 5″ x 5″. I added a piece of designer paper as the background which was cut to 4-3/4″ x 4-3/4″. The skinny line shown at the bottom of the sketch could be ribbon but I decided to emboss a 1/2″ wide piece of Night of Navy and used it instead. The 4 squares in the middle could be stamped images (your choice maybe?) but I used different designs from the designer paper and rounded the corners using the Project Life corner punch. The 2 back pieces are 2″ square and the smaller squares were cut to 1-1/2″. I interpreted the flower in the centre as a balloon from the Lift Me Up stamp set and then added the greeting. See those rhinestones on the sketch? Yes, you could add rhinestones or do as I did and cut out smaller images from scraps of the designer paper. And, voila the card is done!
INSPIRATION:
If you need some stamping inspiration I encourage you to check out the Create with Connie and Mary site and play along with their challenges. They post a sketch every other week and a colour challenge in between.
You will notice that I also made an envelope for this card using the Envelope Punch Board. The Stampin’ Up! medium envelopes are sized to fit a 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ card.
Here is the list of products that I used.
