There is a challenge going on over on LateNightStampers this week to use Non Traditional Christmas colors. So, I decided to give it a try and used Mary Jo’s sketch 150 as my starting point. The card uses the basic sketch with a couple of minor changes.
Have you ever tried the “Faux Tile” technique? I first cut a panel of Crumb Cake cardstock and then scored it to make squares. The Christmas Collage background stamp was inked up with Concord Crush Classic ink and then stamped on the entire panel. I used a blender pen and Basic Gray classic ink to color in the “grout” and sponged around the edges of each “tile”.
Silver Glass Glitter was used to highlight the number “25” and a length of 3/8″ Whisper White taffeta ribbon was dyed with Basic Gray classic ink to add a pretty bow. I also used a Glimmer Basics brad in the center of the bow.
There you have it, a Christmas card in non traditional colors!

Wow, this is stunning. Love the faux tile and the glitter well that puts the card over the top. Too bad is says all Christmas saying cuz it would be a great 25th wedding anniversary card too. Guess you could just do the 25 and fill in the rest with something else. Love how you made my sketch work. Thanks so much for playing along.

I agree with Mary Jo—stunning! What a great, easy technique! I’ll have to try this, TFS!
