ONE FOR THE BOYS

Hello and welcome. Do you have difficulties with coming up with ideas for masculine cards? Sometimes it can be a small challenge, but you can create a great card for a guy with just about any stamp set and designer paper from Stampin’ Up!

Take this one for instance;

The images in the Hostess set, Cute by the Inch, lend themselves nicely to a masculine-style card. I chose the small square flourish for this one and paired it up with the great paper from the Love Letter Designer pack.

Don’t stare at it too long – who knows what will appear in that pattern – LOL.

I started with a card base of Basic Black cut at 5-1/2″ X 8-1/2″ and scored it at 4-1/4″. The next layer is Riding Hood Red cut at 4″ X 5-1/4″ and the designer paper was cut to 3-3/4″ x 5″ and matted to the red layer.

The small flourish was stamped with Riding Hood Red Classic ink and then Basic Black Classic ink on Very Vanilla cardstock. Using the 1-1/4″ Square Punch, I cut each flourish out and then matted them on Riding Hood Red that was cut out with the 1-3/8″ Square Punch. They needed a little extra, so I added a 3/16″ Silver Brad to the center of each one.

The greeting can be changed to suit the occasion, but this one was stamped in Basic Black Classic ink on Very Vanilla and then cut out with the Modern Label Punch. I added a flash of red by cutting out another label with the same punch, cutting it in half and adhering it to the back of the greeting. The black mat was made using my very best friend – the Big Shot and the Movers & Shapers Curly Label die with the Punch Windows shapes.

A small piece of Basic Black grosgrain ribbon adds just the right touch.
