I tried a new technique and had a ton of fun with it! It’s called “Reverse Blackout” and here is what I created.
Before I got started I found a video from Sandi MacIver that shows how to get it done. I started with the beautiful Layered Florals 3D embossing folder(162935) on a piece of Basic white cardstock cut to 4″x5-1/4″.
The, using the Small Blending brushes I added colour to the centres and leaves of the flowers. Here I feel that they could have been a little darker and maybe using a Sponge Dauber would have worked better(that’s on my to-do list). It is very IMPORTANT to add the colour on the indented side of the embossing so the detail stands out after adding the black ink.
Then you need a well-inked a juicy black ink pad to wipe on the black. I used the Tuxedo Memento black pad and re-inked it after every swipe.
The possibilities are endless with any 3D embossing folder, so give it a try. Here’s the link to Sandi’s video.
And, here’s the list of products that I used.
